The Libertines

The Libertines take over Gröna Lund's big stage.

When frontmen Pete Doherty and Carl Barât sang into the same microphone, so close that their lips almost met, the energy soared to an almost otherworldly level. A universe was born – one that millions of fans around the world wanted to be a part of. The intensity of The Libertines’ music and lifestyle was so strong that it bordered on chaos, constantly on the verge of capsizing. But despite a shaky existence, the passion for the music was always a lifeline, and the audience loved what they heard.

It has been over 20 years since the iconic debut album ‘Up The Bracket’ was released – an album produced by Clash guitarist Mick Jones, which became a milestone and a great source of inspiration for a whole wave of indie rock bands.

The Libertines’ Swedish debut took place in 2003 at Kägelbanan in Stockholm. At the time, Svenska Dagbladet’s reviewer wrote:

-Already during the first song, Pete Doherty kicks the microphone stand and at the end of the concert he pushes Carl Barât into the audience. With their leather jackets, bare torsos and ties, the two are constantly on the move and the result is punk, energy and rock’n’roll in a big saturated mix.

A lot of water has flowed under the famous bridges since then and the legends from east London have had time to calm down a bit, but with the swing and energy in safe custody, we have a big night to look forward to when The Libertines take over Gröna Lund’s big stage for the first time on May 28, 2025.
