A British pop pioneer.
The cocktail of glitzy disco, pop and 80s synth that Sophie Ellis-Bextor took to the top of the charts with the massive song ‘Murder On The Dancefloor’ in 2001 may be heard everywhere now, but back then the British artist was a pioneer. It was music that was as danceable as it was melodically irresistible; as clever as it was immediate. It has now been over two decades since the debut album ‘Read My Lips’ was released but Sophie Ellis-Bextor has managed to maintain her relevance.
