Smashing Pumpkins Billy Corgan, guitarist James Iha, bassist D’arcy Wretzky and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin formed the band in 1988 that would become the biggest standard-bearers of the indie sound. The band became one of the most influential groups during the 1990s, their debut album, Gish, was released in 1991, but it was with Siamese Dream (1993) that the Smashing Pumpkins really broke through. The album contained songs such as Today, Disarm and Cherub Rock and became one of the absolute musical milestones of the 90s.
