A drop of Midnight

A Drop of Midnight takes us on a journey from the deep south and slave plantations by way of Harlem to a small Swedish town. Through storytelling and live music, the play explores identity, ancestry, migration, and bigotry. With Swedish artist Jason “Timbuktu” Diakité, director and dramaturg Jonathan McCrory, composers and musicians Erik Hjärpe and The Rakiem Walker Project.

Adapted from Diakité’s memoir of the same name, A Drop of Midnight follows the chart-topping Swedish hip-hop artist born to interracial American parents in Sweden, growing up in the frail cultural and racial divide.
